I haven't posted in a while and not sure anyone is reading, but I like reading the past entries, so I am going to make some notes about the past few months.
Starting with the visit my mom made to visit me April 7-17, 2009. We figured up that she has only visited me about 4-5 times in my adult life, Pax River (1986), Pensacola (1992), San Diego (1995) and England (1999) - and she has never been to my condo since I've moved to the area in 2005. So....it was so great to have her visit. She is having a hard time breathing from the COPD, so we got a scooter so she was able to get around and be a tourist if necessary. It came in very handy. We went on a tour of the Capitol and rode around a bit on the mall. We took a autotour of the monuments since she was here once before when she visited Pax River, and they still look the same. :-)
I introduced my mom to a few of my friends. We spent Easter with Jack and Jeanette - it was a very nice day. And we spent a night over at Noureddine and Catherines where my mom was very at home as she could smoke on the porch. I have great friends that's for sure. We also did a bit of clothes shopping at some different stores that they don't have in Nebraska and we saw a show at the Imrov.
We drove up to New York City for a couple days to see a Broadway show called The Jersey Boys about Franki Valli. It was an awesome show and our hotel was in a perfect location only a couple blocks away. The scooter worked out well as they had a lift to get in and out of the theater. It was raining when we came out of the theater, so we took a quick ride down to Time's Square. The next day we took a bus tour around the city and it was great to see all the sites. I love NYC, and I think mom had a great time too.
The visit was awesome and I was so happy to have my mom here. I hope she will come again soon to visit.
